Who Is Involved In a Mortgage?
There are many different parties involved in the process of obtaining a mortgage. Of course, there is the lender and there is the borrower, but there are a variety of different people that may be helpful and necessary along the way. Below is a quick overview of the main groups involved in the mortgage process.

- Creditor (also Mortgagee or Lender):
The creditor is usually a bank, insurer, or other financial institution. They have legal rights to the property secured by the mortgage. Oftentimes they will make a loan to the debtor of the purchase money for the real estate.

- Debtor (also Mortgagor or Borrower):
Debtors are usually individual home-owners, landlords, or businesses who are buying the property with a loan. They have to meet requirements of the mortgage conditions enforced by the creditor. This is done to ensure that the debtor can repay the loan.

- Legal Representatives:
The process of the legal exchange (or conveyance) of the real estate property is complicated and necessitates legal help for either one or both parties involved. Lawyers, conveyancers, and in many common law jurisdictions solicitors are brought in to the exchange as legal representation.

- Financial Help:
The debtor can acquire help with finding the best suited loan for their home purchase by contacting mortgage brokers or financial advisers.
